New Year's Intentions

I love how Ali Edwards promotes the idea of "intentions" vs. "resolutions." For some reason, resolutions tend to intimidate me a bit more... I have that fear of failure and all, ya know? ;)

I loved the numbered list die cut paper in the December kit, and thought it was perfect for my list of intentions for 2009!

I just want to wish all of you a very Happy Holiday! This year has been amazing and I really appreciate all of your support! I hope there are many kits for the future. This is a fun way to scrapbook. I hope you have a safe week and spend some wonderful moments with your families!

Sweet True Love

This kit has some vintage items in it! I really enjoyed playing with them! Gretchen found us some old music sheets and graciously gave them to me to use for this kit! When I was in Tennessee at my Mom's house, I found these post cards. They are replicas of old snowman postcards! They are all different, so, you will get one that is unique to your kit! I also found some railroad car tickets. So many sweet elements to add to your page!

We were at Connor's Dad's house for Thanksgiving last week and there were some old pictures floating around. I got my hands on them and couldn't believe my fortune! They were of Grandmother Farmer, she is 98! Several of them were of her and Grandaddy Bill! They were the cutest couple! Most were taken in the 40's, he was in the war. I can't wait to use more of them on layouts. There are some great stories that need to be told! Their love was so sweet. She would send him pictures and write notes on the back, reminding him of what they were doing and of their memories! Ahhhhhh.......it is a scrapbookers dream! She was so funny looking at them and telling us they were supposed to be private, but grinning the entire time! Treasure.......truly a treasure!

I thought this postcard was a great indication of their playfulness! I have pictures of her in a grass skirt and a bikini! I'll try and get those on a layout, soon! So fun and happy!

Quick & Easy Gifts

You may have seen me do these before; they are such a quick & easy way to make a personalized gift for someone!

I just use the small $1 photo albums and take out the cardboard covers inside, and make my own.

We gave these to my kids' mother's day out teachers today, and they just loved them!

(I added the '08 stickers from my stash.)

You can tell I used roughly the same design on all three to make it easy on making them.

More Dec. Kit fun

And now a break from our regularly scheduled Christmas themed layouts.

The colors in this month's kit were perfect for a layout about the fun we had at Jim Davenports!  To make the letters pop, I traced around them with a black pen.  That really helps them stand out from a busy background.

Countin' it down!

I got this kit out to the designer's earlier this month and I actually had some time to work on it, too! I loved it! I love Christmas and love to create this time of year. It is so inspiring! I was in Atlanta this weekend and told my husband we needed to go into PotteryBarn kids/Teen just for inspiration. He laughed at me. After about 5 minutes, he actually said I was right, HE was inspired! It might have had something to do with the guitars. He has been rocking out to Guitar Hero on the Wii. I mean, he is addicted. He plays it during commercials, as soon as he gets home from work, after he puts the kids to bed......it's hilarious!

So, I created this countdown to Christmas for my kiddos. I had this wood picture frame at the beach. I thought it would work great for a countdown, it has two openings and it is about 2 inches thick. So, it stands on it's own or it will hang on the wall. I toyed with the idea of putting something special for us to do each day in the bottom opening, but.......too much pressure! I found this adorable picture of John Connor with his first visit to Santa and love the way it reminds me of what Christmas is through a child's eyes! He's so innocent. Not caring about the materialistic side of this holiday. Just the magic! I love the magic!

The bird is in the journal tags from Jenni Bowlin. They are in the add-on kit. Some Prima flowers for the wing and I added some of the Queen and Co. pearls. Those things are fabulous! I think I used every one of them on something!

I added this pic just because it has my favorite Santa in it! I can remember pulling him out every year when I was little. He is such a pretty Santa! My Mom gave him to me when I got my own house. It really is one of my favorite gifts. I probably need to tell her that. I don't know if I ever have!

For unto us....

I made vintage inspired flowers by cutting a long strip of paper, accordian folding it, and then twisting it into a circle. I topped off the area I attached it together with a small circle of paper and some of the elegant green pearls.

I added black tulle to the top, because I used up the other tulle in the kit already! I loved layering the wings, stamped image, pearls, and MM glitter letters.
This strip of Hambly I folded and coaxed to look more textured... there are a lot of little glue dots holding that sucker on!
I ran out of a few letters since I had used them on another project, but I just cut out the negative space and filled it up with the glitter glue.

Ha! Sorry about the It post. Who knows where that was going. I know I meant to insert the pictures of the kit and the add ons! So, how about I do that now? Don't forget to scroll down after looking at these pictures. Virginia made the cutest cone decoration with the kit. I want one!! This kit is a mix of whimsy, glitter, vintage and so many fun extra embellishments. I hope you love it as much as I did!Supplement 1
Supplement 2 Glitter glue! Have you ever used this? I love it! I usually use it on my Christmas cards. I will desaturate my picture so that it looks hand-tinted. Print on paper and then add this glitter to the highlighted spots. For instance, you can put it on a santa hat on the furry parts. Or, you can add it to an ornament or something christmasy! The glitter is all that shows up and it adds so much to your card or layout!

Christmas Cone Decor

Okay, so I can finally show y'all what I made this weekend with the beautiful December kit!

I started by using the turquoise Scenic Route paper and rolling it into a cone, and then I cut the white doily in half and adhered it on. The backside of the cone isn't too pretty- I left all the ends fairly raw back there, because I knew no one would see it. If you are making one that you know people will see the back side, I might wrap the doily all the way around and layer it.


I also cut a strip off of the Scenic Route paper that has the green polka dots on it- tore the bottom edge and then adhered it on the top. Red gorgeous trim goes on top of that. Then embellish with tulle and other little bits! I filled mine with seasonal greenery from my Grams' yard (including sage & thyme- it smells so good!), but you could also fill it with little goodies, Christmas ornaments, gifts, etc. This would look really cute hanging on a doorknob too!
