Play Ball!

Good times with the September Scripts kit. I loved the red "backbone" of this kit. It went perfectly with J's Tee Ball Uniform! Using a technique from Gretchen, I filled the holes in the title letters with patterned paper. Jason actually helped with this layout. He loved the Cosmo Cricket shoes, and demanded that I used them on the layout somewhere! I also really, really, reeeeeealy loved the Jillibean Soup twill with the red numbers. So much fun. tfl!

Back to School and inspiration

It's a hijack post!!

Hey Everyone!! Just thought I'd share a layout or two I've done lately with my Scripts Kit. The first one I used the August kit and added my own letter stickers, and I swiped a bingo card from the September kit. I love that I can usually mix it up from different kits!

I saw this blog post and was inspired to cut out tons of little pennants from my paper! I know the typical back to school layout isn't necessarily a celebration kind of thing - BUT - for us it is, since Cole repeated first grade and is now really a strong second grader!! It's really worth celebrating!!

Now this layout also had some inspiration - I just got the new Rob Thomas CD and the song Someday is my new fave. It's also on the commercial for The Biggest Loser. The lyrics are great! So I tweaked the part I like the most to fit in with my page:

The original lyrics are: You can shine a little light on everything around you. Man it's good to be so warm. But I did "You shine a little light on everyone around you. Cole, it's great to be your mom"

Okay - hijack over!!
thanks for looking!

Some more little candles...

I told y'all I'm addicted to these things!

I made a few more quick candles as gifts for my kids' MDO teachers for the first day of Fall.

Just cut a 2 strips of paper, use a border punch on one, add some adhesive, and stick it on the candle jar!

Adding some twine + embroidery thread gives you a place to tie on a little tag or note. These take no time at all but make a fun little happy gift to brighten someone's day. :)

Just us

Ok, so I am still playing with the August Kit, so, forgive me! But, I sat down to craft for a minute, and this is what happened!

I have had this little Cosmo Cricket box FOREVER, and I finally did something with it!

My boys LOVE to look at pictures, and sometimes, I just tend to leave my finished pages in my studio...for too long!

So, my plans for this box, is to keep it filled with pictures, even if they are random events, times, etc! But, they can be kind of "pages in waiting" pics, or just whatever! But, atleast something fun for the boys, or anyone that visits, to look through!

Most of this is from the kit, with the exception of the bling, and the prima!

Howdy, For You, and a Pumpkin Spice Candle

Sometimes, when I just want to "play" but don't have the mental concentration to actually do a layout, I like to sit down and make a few cards or alter a few items.

I absolutely love the colors in this kit- they hint at fall & school & change in the air. :)

I used an October Afternoon stamp set from my stash to stamp the greeting on some of the ledger paper in the kit.
A paper ruffle makes this $1 pumpkin spice candle from Walmart look extra special! (And I love these candles- they smell awesome and really scent up your home!)
(Yes, you may have seen me alter these little candles before! I can't help it- they beg me to do it!)

Handstitching around the design on this cut-apart from Cosmo Cricket makes the greeting on this card go from basic to fabulous. :)

Everything here is from the September kit, except for the addition of the kraft cardstock to make my cards. :)

Check out the September Kit

Are you ready for this?? This is an awesome kit! I completely drooled over it while packing them up! There is so so so much paper in this kit - you won't believe it!! And the picture below shows you almost everything in it - we thought we'd leave a few things out of the picture to surprise you!!

So - that's the kit and I can't wait to play with it!! Those bingo cards are wonderful and the Jillibean Soup ribbon it great too! OH and that cute "K" you see up there - orangy with scalloped edges - well, each one of you will receive one in your kit with one of your own initials on it! Just a special little treat for you!

The add on is pretty cute too - it's got a cool stamp set included!! That picture is coming soon - gotta keep you waiting a teeny bit!!

Hey Hun! You wanna run?

hehe....fun title! We ran a 5k together.....well, we were at the same race. He left me after the first mile. I don't blame him at all! I would rather run by myself than make someone feel like they had to wait on me. It's funny that I feel that way. I never want to leave anyone! I would rather stay with a slower person and encourage them to keep going.

So, this race was at Alabama Adventure. It's a theme park here in Birmingham. We do not go here enough. It is SO fun! The water park is the best. They have great waterslides. The deal was, if you ran in the race, you got to play for free at Alabama Adventure ALL DAY! The kids were so excited, too. They ran the fun run after the Run for Wishes 5k. It really was a super fun family day! I hope we continue to find fun things to do that are good for us!

As for this layout, it's not really a favorite, but I'm glad I printed the pictures and got it scrapped!
I used the back side of the Hambly paper and scraps of KI and of course, the cork letters from Making Memories!!

Play with Me

I'm still playing with the August Kit!! I think I have used those cork alphas from Making Memories on every thing I've done this month. There are a ton of letters....I love when they put so many letters in one pack!

I love this Sassafras Lass paper. I'm not usually one to use a big print as my background. This was going out of my comfort zone. I kept it pretty simple, but I like how the colors of the buttons pulled a lot of color out of the picture and that strip from the bottom of the Sassafras Lass paper.

A bug, A BUG!

Sabriel is obsessed with bugs. I suppose that her proximity to the ground & all the little creepy crawlies keeps her more observant about all those things. She loves to get down and watch them go about their business. She always makes sure to announce, "A bug- A BUG!" if she sees one, and we all must halt and wait for her to check 'em out.

(Made with the August Scripts kit & add on- check it out here!) I added in a cute Sassafrass feltie (the caterpiller) from my stash because it was just too perfect for this layout to pass up. :)

(P.S. I'm totally aware that I'm on a "circle kick" this month. All my layouts have been starting to have the same general design. What's up with that?! Time to pull out some sketches!)

FREEDOM!!

We were at the beach for the Fourth of July and there was a clown doing face-painting at the pool for FREE! So, John Connor had a flag painted on his face. It turned out SO cute! We always have some sort of face-painting done in Destin. It's usually a fish, or a shark or a pirate. I was so glad he picked the flag! We went back to the beach. John Connor went straight to the water, of course! He came back with it running down his face!!! OH NO! It was still pretty cool looking, I guess. It made me think of the movie Braveheart. You know when William Wallace is screaming "FREEDOM!". So, that's what I think of when I see these pictures. It goes with the whole Fourth of July theme, too, huh?

Up close of the stitching...told ya it's on all my layouts! I used the Jenni Bowlin burst to make the sun and I think the paper is the American Crafts solid side. The star was cut from KI Memories paper and the journal tags and quote are from Fancy Pants. Creative Cafe tag and ribbon.
